4 hours in Pathology
So today, there was a slight mixup, and the department wasn't ready for me/a volunteer despite saying that they needed one in the past. I think an email must not have been sent or a phone call not made. But they hosted me kindly. I was shown around by a dude whose name was something similar to Kevin or Dave (I should remember by tomorrow - UPDATE - his hame is Ryan). He was very kind, energetic and knowledgeable (although today so stressed he didn't take a lunch break). I helped ease his stress by labelling slides which is something he normally has to do at the end o the day. I did enough of one slide to last him until Friday at the very least (if not Monday) and enough of two other slides to get him at least through to tomorrow, if not Thursday. Next, I folded boxes. This might not sound important, but it is in regards to organization in the Pathology Department. Then, I got a second, more in-depth tour. I met more of the staff members and only became slightly less confused in terms of the layout of the department. Finally, I double checked the order of some slides. There were a fair amount of slides out of order, as the department is kinda understaffed and they were all too busy to actually do it. I enjoyed today so much more than yesterday.
